My late husband, Rocky Aoki started BENIHANA restaurant chain in 1964 when Japanese cuisine was unknown to the American people. Now, there are more than 100 Benihana restaurants all over the world including HARU and RA.
A few years ago, I was wondering how many New Yorkers actually have experienced Japanese home cooking, similar to what my mother cooked for me every day. So I thought I would share with everyone some of my favorite dishes by publishing a healthy Japanese home cooking book "Easy & Healthy Japanese Food for the American Kitchen" (Quill Driver Books) in 2007. My passion for food kept growing and in 2009 I decided to open a Japanese catering company, "KEIKO AOKi", to introduce the Japanese organic home cooking experience to New York food lovers at their home and offices. If you love sushi so much, KEIKO AOKi also does sushi catering with live performance by sushi chef.
With a dedication to providing healthy and quality food: I use only organic, seasonal, and natural ingredients, meaning absolutely no chemicals or preservatives allowed. Food should be prepared fresh each day and when prepared properly can be very tasty.
